One assistant across Taam

Lists • Recipes • Menus • Shopping mode • Navigation

Taam keeps the everyday experience simple while building powerful structure underneath. A grocery item can stay as simple as “milk,” or grow into a product with quantity, unit, barcode, photo, notes, category, store location, price, and shopping history.

The app is being built from one Expo codebase for the web, iPhone, and Android, with Firebase authentication, shared household data, and permission-aware collaboration.

Product capabilities

Everything visible in the Taam build

This includes working beta features, active integrations, and product infrastructure already represented in the codebase.

Shared lists & household control

In beta
Real-Time Shared Lists

Create personal or household lists, add and check off items together, archive completed work, and keep everyone synchronized.

In beta
Smart Categories

Items automatically match into practical categories. Households can correct matches, create custom categories, reorder them, and reuse learned preferences.

In beta
Offline-First Shopping

Keep adding, editing, and checking items when connectivity drops. Pending changes synchronize when the connection returns.

In beta
Barcode & Product Lookup

Scan on web or mobile, look up product details through Open Food Facts, detect duplicates, save unknown codes, and verify items by barcode.

In beta
Rich Item Details

Add quantities, units, notes, item photos, barcodes, brand and ingredient details, nutrition signals, and custom category placement.

In beta
Granular Permissions

Control household access by role and list: view, add items, edit, check off only, or full management across lists, recipes, and menus.

AI & voice

In beta
Taam AI Kitchen Assistant

Talk or type naturally to read and update lists, search recipes, compare ingredients, create menus, add dishes, and open the right area of the app.

Active development
Alexa Integration

Secure account linking connects Alexa to a Taam household and default list. Add, check off, and read items; search recipes; add ingredients; and build menus by voice.

In beta
English & Hebrew Voice

Bilingual speech recognition, spoken responses, language switching, conversation memory, and live interruption for hands-free use.

In beta
Safe Data Actions

The assistant uses authenticated, permission-aware tools. It detects duplicates, asks before combining, and reports exactly what changed.

In beta
AI Recipe Import

Paste recipe text or a website URL and let AI extract the title, description, ingredients, steps, timing, servings, tags, and source for review.

Product roadmap
More Voice Connections

The integration layer anticipates Siri and Apple Shortcuts, Android voice actions, Bina AI, and MifgashAI event-to-menu workflows.

Recipes & menu planning

In beta
Complete Recipe Library

Save photos, ingredients, steps, timing, servings, difficulty, notes, source, nutrition, video, kosher type, and detailed tags.

In beta
Recipe-to-List

In beta
Flexible Menu Boards

Create dated menus with guests and notes, choose a meal template, add recipes or free-text dishes, and organize custom sections.

In beta
Shabbos, Yom Tov & More

Built-in meal types include Friday night, Shabbos lunch, Seudah Shlishit, weekday dinner, Yom Tov, BBQ, party, and custom occasions.

In beta
Menu History & Reuse

Search past menus, duplicate an existing plan, adjust recipe servings, print or share it, and turn the complete menu into a merged shopping list.

Live shopping

In beta
Shopping Sessions

Start a session tied to a specific shopping list so the trip, participants, and conversation stay focused on the same task.

In beta
Household Group Chat

Create participant groups, send live messages, reply in context, and keep store coordination inside Taam instead of a separate messaging app.

In beta
Photo Confirmation

Take or upload product and reference photos during a shopping session, then discuss substitutions or the exact item in real time.

Active development
Store Mode & Locations

One list can adapt to a store view with known aisle and shelf locations, location photos, store-specific details, and unknown items grouped separately.

Active development
Fast Store Decisions

The shopping workflow is designed for quick “correct,” “wrong item,” “scan barcode,” “accept substitute,” and “skip item” responses.

Active development
Store Notifications

Push-notification infrastructure is planned to keep household members current when a shopper sends a question, photo, or item update.

What the platform is being built to support
